7mm Hybrid Flooring Melbourne

Ten colours of 7mm hybrid SPC, built on a 5.5mm waterproof core with a 1.5mm IXPE acoustic underlay pre-attached and a deep embossed surface texture.

Choosing Hybrid

7mm or 9mm?

Both hybrid ranges share the same waterproof SPC core construction, the same 0.5mm wear layer and the same UNICLIC joining system. The difference is core thickness and acoustic performance, and it decides which one suits your project.

Best suited toRentals, renovations and high-volume trade work where cost per square metre leads the decisionLuxury residential and multi-level builds where underfoot solidity and sound dampening matter

Rooms it suits

  • Kitchens, bathrooms and laundries — the core is 100% waterproof
  • Living areas and bedrooms, over concrete slab or timber subfloor
  • Basements and ground floors where slab moisture rules out laminate
  • Apartments and townhouses, where the pre-attached IXPE underlay helps meet acoustic requirements

Where to choose something else

  • Outdoors, or any space not enclosed and climate-controlled
  • Saunas, or rooms with standing water and sustained heat
  • Unshaded conservatories, where prolonged direct sun causes expansion

Hybrid, laminate or EVSPC?

Hybrid is the choice when water is a real risk. The stone-composite core does not swell when it gets wet, so it goes into kitchens, bathrooms and laundries where a laminate would eventually fail at the joints.

Laminate remains the better value for dry areas. A 12mm HDF board with an AC4 wear rating handles heavy traffic in living rooms, bedrooms and hallways for less per square metre — provided the room stays dry.

EVSPC sits above both. Its 2mm luxury vinyl top layer is four times the wear layer of hybrid, and its 5-Star AAAC acoustic rating is aimed at apartment and strata projects with sound compliance obligations.

Before you install

Hybrid is a floating floor. It is not glued or nailed to the subfloor, which is what allows it to move with temperature change instead of buckling.

The acoustic underlay is already bonded to the board. Do not lay a second underlay beneath it — the extra compression causes joints to flex and eventually separate.

Leave the boxes flat and unopened in the room for at least 48 hours before laying, and leave an expansion gap at every wall and fixed object.

The subfloor must be clean, dry and flat to the tolerance in this range's installation documentation. Grinding or levelling a slab is cheaper than lifting a failed floor.

Technical Composition

Anatomy of Hybrid Engineering

01

WEAR LAYER

The topmost layer is made of a clear, transparent material that is highly resistant to scratches, stains, and fading. Enhanced with technologies like aluminum oxide to ensure durability and longevity.

02

DESIGN LAYER

Beneath the wear layer is a high-resolution photographic image that replicates the look of natural materials such as wood, stone, or tile with convincing realism.

03

CORE LAYER

Provides structural stability and strength. Composed of Stone Plastic Composite (SPC), a high-density material ensuring the flooring remains dimensionally stable.

04

BACKING LAYER

The bottommost layer providing additional stability, enhancing moisture resistance, and featuring an integrated acoustic underlayment for quieter, more comfortable living.

Care & Preservation

Maintenance Guide

Hybrid flooring maintenance is straightforward, requiring regular cleaning to preserve its appearance and longevity. Routine care involves sweeping or vacuuming to remove dirt and debris.

Sweep or vacuum regularly with a soft brush attachment to remove dirt and debris.

Mop with a well-wrung microfibre mop using plain warm water or a pH-neutral floor cleaner.

Place felt pads on furniture legs and avoid dragging heavy objects.

Clean up spills promptly and avoid exposing the flooring to excessive moisture.

Avoid steam mops, harsh chemicals, abrasive scrubbing tools, steel wool, or wax, as these can potentially harm the finish.
